Kingza Secures Taiwan Agency Rights for ” Sanwa” Expanding Operations to 9 Major Brands and 66 Stores Nationwide
2025-07-25
On June 23, Kingza announced that it had secured the agency rights for Unagi no Naruse, a Japanese unagi rice specialty chain with nearly 400 stores in Japan, as well as the well-known Taiwanese dining brands MEI LEI Hong Kong Café and KEN PONG Modern Chinese Cuisine. The additions bring the Group’s brand portfolio to 12 brands, with approximately 70 directly operated stores across Taiwan and eight overseas licensed stores. By further expanding its resilient everyday dining portfolio, the Company aims to surpass its previous full-year consolidated revenue record.
Unagi no Naruse, a Japanese unagi rice specialty chain with nearly 400 stores in Japan, opened more than 300 stores within just over two years from 2021 to 2023, demonstrating the maturity and scalability of its standardized operating model. Following Kingza’s representation of the brand, the raw materials for its unagi products will be produced in Taiwan under the supervision of the brand owner to ensure that the flavor and quality remain consistent with those in Japan. In addition, unagi rice aligns with Taiwanese consumers growing demand for healthier dining options, as well as the continued popularity of Japanese cuisine. Kingza plans to open the brand’s first store in a department store or shopping mall in Taiwan by the end of this year.
Kingza’s decision to represent MEI LEI Hong Kong Café is primarily based on the brand’s set-meal-style Hong Kong dining model, which supports flexible store formats such as shop-in-shop and compact counter models. These formats have demonstrated high sales productivity per unit area and strong potential for scalable expansion. Mei Li Hong Kong Café currently operates three stores in Taiwan, located at Taipei 101, SOGO Fuxing, and CITYLINK Nangang in Taipei, while KEN PONG Modern Chinese Cuisine operates one store at CITYLINK Nangang. Following the commencement of Kingza’s representation, these four stores are expected to begin contributing to the Group’s revenue performance. Kingza also plans to open a new Mei Li Hong Kong Café store by the end of this year.
Kingza’s brand portfolio includes dining brands such as Ginza Anzu Tonkatsu, Kyoto Katsugyu, Duan Chun Zhen, Kyochon Chicken, and Torisanwa. In addition to acquiring a 51% stake in Yang Shin Vegetarian Restaurant in 2025, Kingza added MEI LEI Hong Kong Café Company, KEN PONG Modern Chinese Cuisine, and Unagi no Naruse to its agency portfolio in June 2026, bringing the total number of brands under the Group to 12. The Group currently operates approximately 70 directly operated stores in Taiwan. Leveraging its multi-brand licensing and agency strategy for global market expansion, Kingza has successfully brought two represented brands, Duan Chun Zhen and Kyoto Katsugyu, to international markets, establishing a presence in Hong Kong, the United States, and Australia, with a total of eight overseas licensed stores.
Kingza stated that by expanding its resilient everyday dining portfolio, the Company aims to exceed last year’s record-high consolidated revenue of NT$1.771 billion and set a new historical high this year. The Company also expects to maintain double-digit year-on-year revenue growth.
